Confession time: Although I’m completely gob-smacked, enamored with the idea of handmade embellishments – so much so that I’ve included one in every single Monday Mojo post for months, this is the first time I’ve ever actually made one myself.

To be honest, it took me a while to figure out what I really wanted to make. I didn’t want to exactly replicate the embellishment in the prompt:

but at the same time, I just couldn’t seem to come up with anything in my stash that suited. Finally, I came across this wonderful stamp and die set that I got at the Paper Arts show in July, and I decided that although it would be very similar to the prompt, it was just too perfect not to play with.

So here’s what I came up with:

Friends Embellishment

And you know what? It was so much fun to make! I can’t wait to use it on an upcoming Scraps & Stash project. Not sure if this little cutie will make its way onto a scrapbook page or a card, but I’m looking forward to some creative time to find out.

So what do you think? What are some other great die-cut shape combos that would make great embellishments? Leave me a comment below with your ideas.

Very cute! And an inspiration to dig out some stamp/die sets that I have rarely (or never yet) used and make something pretty.
