Welcome to another week of Christmas in July Scraps & Stash. This week’s layouts are all about the same year – 2007. We had recently moved into our current home and we wanted to do the holidays big. We went to the tree farm and got a huge real tree and decorated all the front rooms. We also hosted both our family gatherings. I have tons of photos from that year, but I managed to cut them down to three double-page spreads.
The first layout is titled “Tree Farm,” and it documents our first trip to a tree farm to pick out a tall tree for our living room, as well as the other trees we put up around the house. I used Crate Paper Sleigh Ride patterned paper for the background, then layered blocks of green text paper and solid cardstock and Carta Bella scraps over all.
The second layout documents our Christmas Eve and Christmas Morning gift opening. I loved both sides of the Sleigh Ride background pages, so I decided to trim them down a bit in order to use the scraps on another project. I layered the background pages over Vanilla cardstock, then added a layer of Crimson spanning both sides. A few cut apart pieces and stickers round out the embellishing.
The last layout documents our extended family gatherings. I chose kraft cardstock for backgrounds, then started stacking scraps from other layouts on top to build the layout. The photos are matted in Scarlet, and die-cuts, cut apart pieces, and stickers round out the pages.
And here’s what’s left. 4 sets of double pages for two-page spreads, several single sheets of patterned papers, lots of cut-apart pieces, die-cuts, stickers, and ribbon. If you’ve got some great ideas for using up ribbon, I’d love to see them – this seems to be one stash item I have a hard time using up. I’ve started a Pinterest board for ideas, and I can always us more.
I’d love to see your stash projects too, Christmas or otherwise. Leave a comment and link me up!
